Everett, Massachusetts — On Friday, September 12, Governor Healey and LT. Driscoll of Massachusetts made a special appearance at Teddie Peanut Butter to join in celebrating the brand’s 100th anniversary.
A Century of Taste and Tradition
Founded in 1925 by Armenian immigrant Michael Hintlian, Teddie (officially the Leavitt Corporation) has been producing peanut butter with a commitment to quality and tradition. Over four generations, the company has remained family-owned, maintaining the same core values: health and wellness, community engagement, and giving back.
Governor’s Remarks: Honoring Local Industry
Governor Maura Healey delivered remarks celebrating the milestone speaking in front of a production floor filled with hard-working Teddie employees. She praised Teddie not just as a brand, but as a piece of Massachusetts heritage.
“Today is a celebration of another winning team. 100 years that Teddie Peanut Butter has been at it, providing delicious and healthy products around the world. Contributing and showing the way on community engagement and making a huge difference”, says Governor Healey.
Companies like Teddie help anchor local economies by creating good jobs, keeping production local, and investing in the community. Several employees who have worked at the plant for decades were present and recognized.

What Makes Teddie Special
What sets Teddie apart, and what people from Massachusetts and New England cherish, is its consistency. According to ex-CEO Mark Hintlian, the company still uses the same roasting and grinding techniques laid down by his grandfather.
Community, Giving Back, and Looking Forward
Our connection to Everett and to Massachusetts goes beyond jars of peanut butter. Over the years we have supported local nonprofits, food banks (notably the Greater Boston Food Bank), schools, youth sports programs and organizations like Best Buddies.
Why It Matters
For many, Teddie is more than a brand; it’s a taste of home. Whether in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, used in baking for the holidays, or just as a nostalgic item in a pantry, Teddie carries memories. It is a piece of Massachusetts history that people touch every day.
The governor’s visit, then, was more than just a photo op. It was an acknowledgment that manufacturing, tradition, and quality still matter. It was a moment to celebrate how a family business founded by an immigrant nearly a century ago can still thrive today.
Closing Thoughts
As the centennial events continue throughout 2025, Teddie Peanut Butter reminds us what small business looks like when it is done with heart and integrity. Cheers to 100 more years of fresh roasted quality product that is naturally, and uniquely Teddie.
